Hamburg Organ Summer

For many years, five major churches of Hamburg and the Catholic St. Marien Cathedral have been corporately presenting the “Hamburg Organ Summer” Festival. These six congregations each host an organ concert on a weekly basis from June to September.

In addition to our own organists of Hamburg, there is an opportunity to experience international guest organists, who masterly portray these very distinctive instruments. The historically oriented instruments in St. Jacobi and St. Katharinen, the two significant instruments of the Hamburg builder Beckerath from the 20th century, as well as the symphonic organ in St. Michaelis represents an impressive spectrum of top-class instruments. A new construction will shortly take place in St. Nikolai am Klosterstern, where the first phase is already to be seen.

The joint opening and closing concerts by our very own organists of Hamburg accentuate one of the participating venues, which differs every year.
